Recently I was lucky enough to get the chance to go to Bali and experience a staycation at Fontana Hotel Bali. With luxurious and a whole host of conveniences, staying in a hotel is always a major treat for me. You know the feeling: you wake up after a long night’s sleep in a soft white linens, slip into your fuzzy hotel-issued slippers and robe, step onto the fluffy hotel carpet, soak in the tub and have a buffet breakfast that will leave you wondering why anyone would ever want to leave.
Designed by environmentalist architect Popo Danes and the former Super Potato Tokyo’s designer Nobuyuki Narabayashi, Fontana is uniquely designed to accommodate a modern lifestyle in Bali while maintaining the authentic feel of Balinese nature. Located right at the center of Kuta and near from Legian and Seminyak area with their beaches, shops and trendy places, but away from all the noises and crowds. I was staying at the suite room and it was really huge. Dressed in modern style, our room have a designer sofa, faux fur rug with 42” flat TV and a custom made egg-shaped bath tub. Room also had a balcony overlooking the expansive outdoor pool area where you can relax and enjoy the warm summer breeze.
Every morning we were served an extensive breakfast buffet at their in-house restaurant called Portabella Bistro. Portabella which means ‘beautiful door’ is celebrated for it’s stylish Italian food. Dominated by wooden furnitures and rustic vintage decor with interesting antique plaques mounted on walls, Portabella Bistro brings out the cozy atmosphere and ambiance to the diner. And next to Portabella Bistro, there’s Sunny 16 café. The café is open 24/7, providing free wifi and freshly brewed artisan coffee and mouth-watering cakes. Portabella Bistro and Sunny16 Café are open to all visitors, including non hotel guests. And if thats not enough, Fontana Hotel also has top notch spa and gym on site.
And last but not least, Fontana Hotel was outstanding at customer service. After I came back to Jakarta, I realized that I left my glasses in my hotel room. I called the hotel and they had retrieved my stuff and promptly shipped it right to my house. All in all, Fontana is the perfect base for an out of the ordinary city break!
Arnold Teja was a guest of Fontana Hotel Bali, all views and opinions are my own. A big thank you to Kunti for the hospitality!
