If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you must be already know that I spent a week holidays in Hong Kong with one of my best friends slash personal photographer. We flew to Hong Kong on Tigerconnect which allows 1 booking for 2 connecting flights with Tigerair and their partner airline, Scoot. Basically we flew from Jakarta to Singapore with Tigerair and from Singapore to Hong Kong with Scoot. We were seated on the extra leg-room seats on both of our Tigerair flights. Located on the first row of the cabin meaning no one can recline into our space. The extra leg room was really good value for money especially since the final price is still significantly cheaper than the alternative full service carrier. The whole 6 feet of me really appreciated it.
Boarding was fine, departure was on time. We were reminded that we had a pre-booked meal which will be served once in air. We were asked for our preferences among coffee or tea, which will be served with meal (Tigerair meal actually includes a bottle of water and a big cup of tea/coffee, which is very nice and more than what you thought you will be getting). We had Nasi Ayam Masak Merah on one flight and Beef Lasagna on the other. The service is efficient and accompanied by smiles and lots of eye contact. We were arrived at Changi Airport at 11 PM and after immigration clearance, we spent out time waiting for the next flight wandering the stores around Changi. The flight departed Singapore at 1.55 AM and arrived at Hong Kong at 5:45 AM the next day. For being a time conscious traveler & the working class hard up on annual leave, that means you can board the flight after work and begin your adventure in Hong Kong the very next morning.[/ezcol_3fifth]

I’d never been on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, so was intrigued to see what it was like. Marketed to “make everyone’s flying experience better” I do have to say I was impressed. The lighting is described as “mood” and was changed during the flight including the clear-to-dark-blue electrically controlled window shades. I was literally screaming inside when the rainbow-coloured cabin lights came on.
We were seated on the business class named as ScootBiz which are at the front of the Scoot aircraft. Even though it is actually a premier economy standard on most full-service airlines, it was still way much comfortable for a fraction of the cost. Seating in the ScootBiz cabin is arranged in a 2-3-2 configuration. With the pitch, recline and a proper footrest. The leather seat is soft and comfortable. All seats have their own AC power socket so that you can recharge your tech devices during the flight.

The in-flight-entertainment is served up via the in-plane wifi. It’s free for ScootBiz passengers, but you do have to bring your own device. But we didn’t try it out because we were falling asleep since it was past midnight.
The ScootBiz package also comes with the set meal. We tried the Scoot’s Premium Selections. You’ll need to book online in advance for the premium meal. We had the Singapore Signature Chicken Rice and topped it off with a Häagen-Dazs ice cream which taste especially nice during a long flight.
Of all the ScootBiz perks, one of the most important has to be priority check-in and boarding. As with all budget carriers, long queues are to be expected. With ScootBiz, there is no need to be bothered with the hassle and the crowd. Of course, the allowance for the checked-in and carry-on luggage are fantastic. And just like Tiger Plus costumer, Scoot Biz passengers also have priority boarding[/ezcol_3fifth]

On the whole, the flight was rather uneventful. There were very few takers for the ScootBiz tickets – less than 10 seats were taken out of the 32 – which meant service was very prompt and it was very peaceful and quiet.
On our way back from Hong Kong to Singapore we had the chance to try the ScootinSilence, a quiet zone in which kids under 12 will not be allowed to sit. Besides that exclusivity, we also got additional comfort – every seat comes with an adjustable headrest and extra leg room. The seats were located just behind the business class section. Both ScootBiz and ScootinSilence include meals and baggage allowance.[/ezcol_3fifth][ezcol_1half]

Overall our flight was fun and we had nothing to complain about. I have complete diaries of my experiences from Hong Kong to come, but in the mean time I hope you enjoy this post!
